11/14/2019 0 Comments First Term ReflectionThis semester in lit has already challenged me in unexpected yet beneficial ways. In the first few weeks, I struggled slightly as I adjusted to the dynamic of the classroom as well as a classroom setting in which we were not provided the right answers, but rather asked to find and discuss them. While I deeply appreciated this class structure from the very beginning, it is still not something I have encountered often throughout high school, even at a place like Galloway. It took a while for me to find my footing, and while some days are still more challenging than others, the last few weeks, I have finally been feeling more confident in my contributions to class and feel as though I am really growing in my close reading and analyzing skills.
Lately, I wondering and struggling with how these two pieces of literature connected to each other. While I can see many co-existing themes, the assignment in which we had to consider Greenblatt and Scott in a conversation with one another was particularly challenging, I think because I felt odd to consider these arguments outside the context of their own selves and in comparison to one another. I felt lost all over again and had no idea what they would have said to one another or how they would have agreed or countered each other.
